LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Henderson State University in Arkadelphia is getting some serious attention online, thanks to a new lip dub video.

The video has close to 13-thousand views on YouTube and countless hits on the school's website.

Student leader Cameron Magee had the difficult job of holding the camera through the six minute video.

"We used what's called a glide camera to keep the shot steady," says Magee. "We kinda had a crew of a few friends of mine and we rode around and walked the route all morning over and over because I was walking backwards for most of it."

Two-hundred and fifty students participated in the video.

“We are excited that Dr. Hill is going to be with us to celebrate our second class of recipients of the Arkadelphia Promise,” said Jason Jones, Executive Director of the Arkadelphia Promise.  “This event is designed to spotlight our seniors and their academic efforts, as well as emphasizing our organization’s desire to help our students pay for college.  We are looking forward to the challenge Dr. Hill will put before our graduating class of 2012”

Marking Ouachita’s 125th annual spring commencement, a copy of President Conger’s inaugural commencement address from 1888 was carried in the academic processional along with the university mace.
“We’re in a world that has great challenge and great opportunity, and we believe that the hope for change rests in you,” Dr. Horne told the graduates. “All of us are most impressed with you and your generation and the commitment that you have.”

T.J. Bailey, a junior worship arts major from Fort Smith, Ark., won first place in Ouachita Baptist University’s 35th annual Virginia Queen Competition for Excellence in Piano Performance.
Thirteen students competed in this year’s event. Bailey received the competition’s $600 first prize.

Third place was awarded to Sean Jackson, a freshman music theory and composition major from Milton, Fla., with a prize of $250. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Jillian Elwart was born with a congenital anomaly that required the amputation of her right leg above-the knee when she was a toddler. Not long after the surgery, she was fit with a prosthesis and has been walking tall ever since. Throughout the years Elwart saw the
...more difference her prosthetic clinician made in her life, and decided to pursue a career in the field so she could do the same for someone else. She is now a certified prosthetist / orthotist at Hanger Clinic in Little Rock where she helps restore mobility to those with amputations and individuals with disabilities and injuries requiring orthotic solutions.
This Saturday, May 12, Elwart, who continues to be extremely active and serve as an inspiration to those around her, will participate in the Warrior Dash, “a mud-crawling, fire-leaping, extreme 5k run” in Amity, Arkansas as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jacob Watson, a 2011 Ouachita Baptist University alumnus, won the $10,000 Second Prize in the Lotte Lenya Competition, held recently at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

The Lotte Lenya Competition, sponsored annually by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music, is a renowned competition for young artists, ages 19-30, who specialize in singing both opera and musical theatre repertoire. This international theatre singing competition has sent on winners to play major roles on Broadway and perform with prestigious opera houses such as Metropolitan Opera.
