NLR police hold memorial for slain officers

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The North Little Rock Police Department held a memorial for its fallen officers.

Wednesday morning, the memorial was held on the front lawn. The ceremony honored members of the NLRPD who were killed or died in the line of duty.

This event...more coincides with the National Law Enforcement Memorial Week and is dedicated to the officers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the citizens of North Little Rock.

Here are the officers who were honored:

Frank Neighbors: Born April 18, 1890 - Killed November 22, 1929

Jerrell P. Vaughan: Born February 1931 - Killed April 16, 1963

Jerry C. Davis: Born July 15, 1955 - Killed January 7, 1982

Ralph McMoran: Born March 14, 1940 - Died April 23, 2008

CONWAY -- Brittany Edwardes and Kathy Hill of the University of Central Arkansas have been awarded the Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarship, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.
Edwardes and Hill are...more among the more than 1,700 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2012-2013 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
Edwardes, of Texarkana, will be going to Malaysia. Hill, of Benton, will be going to South Korea. Both students will be participating in an English Teaching Assistantship.
Edwardes graduated in May with a major in English and a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies through the Honors College. She studied social sciences and English in Thailand during the spring of 2011. She also taught English to children from age nine to 12 during her time in Thailand. Edwardes has interned for the Peace Corps, Arkansas State AmeriCorps and the Winthrop Rockefeller

At 6: Restaurant owners hang fish outside business

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A North Little Rock restaurant that promises all-you-can-eat and tasty cuisines caught the eye of passersby when they saw dead fish hanging from a stick outside the eatery.

At 6: 4 arrested at Occupy Little Rock site

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police have blocked Ferry Street and Capital Avenue around the Occupy Little Rock site. They have also roped off the parking lot.

Authorities say Jennifer Pierce, Amy Cicirello, Glen Miller, and Occupy spokesperson Greg Deckleman have been...more arrested for disorderly conduct. They were taken into custody on scene.

Occupy Little Rock protesters say they'll end their seven-month run when the city enforces its deadline for the group to clear out of its Little Rock site.

But the city-imposed 7 a.m. Wednesday deadline came and went without any arrests.

Little Rock police Lt. Terry Hastings wouldn't comment on the police's plans to arrest the protesters, only saying that Wednesday was the deadline for the group to move from its site near the downtown Little Rock post office.

The city says it needs the space for parking for Arkansas Riverfest on Memorial Day weekend and for other summer

Great Video: Henderson State University lip dub goes viral

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Henderson State University in Arkadelphia is getting some serious attention online, thanks to a new lip dub video.

Using a single continuous camera shot, HSU students dance and sing to Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and "Don't Stop Believin'" by...more Journey.

The video has close to 13-thousand views on YouTube and countless hits on the school's website.

Student leader Cameron Magee had the difficult job of holding the camera through the six minute video.

"We used what's called a glide camera to keep the shot steady," says Magee. "We kinda had a crew of a few friends of mine and we rode around and walked the route all morning over and over because I was walking backwards for most of it."

Two-hundred and fifty students participated in the video.

Top of the Rock Chorus is a non-profit organization and the Little Rock chapter of Sweet Adelines International. Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization devoted to promoting a cappella, four-part harmony, barbershop style music for women.

At 6: Goose leg tangled in fishing line at MacArthur Park

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission called in wildlife biologist to help capture the goose in order to...more cut its leg free from fishing line that has become wrapped around its foot.
