...more show is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The fashion show is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The fashion event will star the high fashion runway models, of all ages and sizes, from Campbell's Oneofakind Talent Inc. modeling agency and past Little Rock Fashion Week presentations. They'll wear clothes from Belk, David's Bridal, Dillard's, Men's Wearhouse, and Reba's Formal Wear.
This will be the second ADG bridal fashion show that Campbell is involved in, featuring OTI and LRFW models, in a month. On January 15th, the ADG Bridal Fashion Show in Little Rock featured models from OTI and LRFW. Campbell served as co-producer and model booker.

UALR Hosts Central Arkansas Science Fairs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Feb. 9, 2012) – UALR’s College of Science and Mathematics will host three regional science fairs – the Central Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair , the Junior Academy of Science Central Arkansas Regional Fair,
...more and the American Chemical Society Chemistry Olympiad – on Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, offering competition for both middle- and high school students.

The two fairs will be day-long competitions from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 2, in the Donaghey Student Center. The Olympiad will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, in the UALR Science Lab Building Room 280. It is open to all chemistry students nominated by their teacher.

Public, private, and home-schooled students from the counties of Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Perry, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Van Buren, White, Woodruff, and Yell are eligible for the CARSEF’s two levels

CONWAY -- The UCA Political Science Department is sponsoring the annual meeting of the Arkansas Political Science Association on Feb. 24 -25.
The event begins at noon on Friday, Feb. 24 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center.  The meeting will draw approximately 100 political scientists

Participants will discuss a variety of topics including the 2012 presidential and congressional elections, the Arkansas court system and judicial decision-making, the causes of the Middle Eastern Revolutions, education policy and civic education.
Charles Bullock, a political scientist from the Department of Political Science at the University of Georgia will be the keynote speaker on Friday, Feb. 24. Dr. Bullock is a highly respected and well-known political science professor and author on Southern politics. Faulkner County Judge, Preston Scroggin will speak to conference participants on Saturday, Feb. 25.

CONWAY -- The application deadline for the second class of the University of Central Arkansas’s doctoral program in Leadership Studies is March 1.
The interdisciplinary doctor of philosophy in the field of leadership is the only degree program of its kind in Arkansas and is unique to the
...more region. The curriculum focuses on those skills that are most relevant to today’s leaders, including communications, decision-making, ethics and change.
The program provides opportunities for practicing professionals to benefit from scholarly study, while those preparing for academic pursuits such as research, teaching or administration gain an understanding of the world of practice.
The degree, which may be completed as a part time or full time student,  includes a minimum of 60 semester hours beyond the master's degree. Along with the leadership core of 18 semester hours, the program will include a research core of 15 hours.

The event was held Friday as part of American Heart Month activities. Walkers included former patients and

Most people in the rehab program were referred by their doctors because they have experienced some form of cardiovascular disease, a hospital spokesman said.

A business owner monitoring his office from home sprung into action to stop people from trespassing on his property.  
The owner contacted a Faulkner County sheriff’s deputy when he saw two men climbing the fence at the back of his business. 
Then, while driving to his business, the

The State Marketing Board for Recyclables will meet at 1:15 p.m. March 7, 2012, at the Virco Manufacturing facility, 1701 Sturgis Road, in Conway.
Items on the board’s agenda include hearing reports on recycling of X-ray and micro films, and a “Recycle Bank” program which will offer
...more incentives for recycling efforts. In addition, the board will elect officers for 2012.
Prior to the board’s business meeting, members will be attending a Buyers’ Summit, a periodic event sponsored by the Arkansas Recycling Coalition to provide information on recycling issues. The summit will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Virco plant.
The board advises and assists the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality on finding and maintaining markets for recyclable materials collected in Arkansas.

CONWAY — The Baum Gallery of Fine Art at the University of Central Arkansas will host the 2012 student competitive exhibition March 7-28.

The competitive is open to all UCA students. All works must be submitted by March 1 at 4 p.m. and will be judged by juror Greg Thompson, owner of Greg Thompson Fine Art in Little Rock, the following day.
In addition to having their works displayed in the Baum Gallery and competing for cash prizes totaling $1,000, the students are able to sell their works to patrons of the gallery.
Barclay McConnell, director of the Baum Gallery, said that students’ opportunity to have their work judged by a juror with an outside perspective is a positive aspect of the competitive.

Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund donations surpass $500,000 since 2006
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Feb. 20, 2012 – Members of the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund announced a $130,000 donation today to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton during an event at the University
...more of Arkansas System office. As part of the announcement, the organization awarded 57 scholarships to students currently enrolled in the college’s petroleum technology program. The contribution is the largest scholarship donation in the history of the petroleum technology program.
 
The Fayetteville Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization made up of member companies who work in the state’s natural gas industry. The group hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to raise scholarship funds for students seeking careers in the state’s oil and natural gas industry.

...more his latest book, “Travel as a Political Act”,  on Thursday, March 15, in the auditorium of the College of Business at 7:30 p.m.  The lecture is free and open to the public.
“I’m really excited that he’s coming,” Department of Writing professor John Vanderslice said. “I’m amazed and grateful that we snagged him, I really didn’t think we could.  He really is truly famous in the world of travel writing.”
Steves has written 40 travel guides and also writes and produces several television programs. He also hosts a radio program, “Travel with Rick Steves”, which airs on NPR.

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- UCA, Central Baptist College, and Hendrix are just three of more than 30 Arkansas schools participating in College Goal Sunday to get students successfully signed up for federal and state aid.  UCA officials estimate they helped 100 students Sunday.
