The Union Rescue Mission is holding its 5th Annual "Night on the Street" to help raise awareness and financial support for programming that touches the lives of the homeless domestically abused and addicted here in Central Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- According to officials with the City of Little Rock, a section of University Ave. at Asher Ave. will be closed this weekend and next.

Crews will be doing asphalt repairs due to water damage. The closures will be divided into two phases.

...more phase will close the left thru and left turn lanes of south bound University Ave. Saturday, Feb. 25 through Monday, Feb. 27.

The second phase will close two right thru lanes of south bound University Ave. Saturday, March 3 through Monday, March 5.

They say to expect delays while crews are working.

Due to the unexpectedly large response, The Salvation Army's disaster training event has been relocated to the Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene at 1200 N. Mississippi Street.

The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command will be holding a FREE disaster training event on Friday and Saturday, February 24 & 25, 2012.

CAAC will provide drinks (hot and cold), snacks, continental breakfast (muffins, juice, doughnuts) and lunch on Saturday.
 
Class 1 - Introduction to Disaster Services (pre-requisite for all disaster courses)

“Whether advising clients on ways to assure that their dependent friends are taken care of adequately in the event of their own death or disability, or addressing issues of legal liability, or any of dozens of developing subjects, the lawyer faces many challenges in this area,” said Professor Emeritus Morell Mullins. “Our program offers cost-effective, quality continuing legal education to the bar.”
Attorneys can receive six hours CLE credit, including one hour ethics credit. The day-long CLE program will cost $75 for attorneys and $60 for non-attorneys or attorneys who are not seeking CLE credit.

The fashion event will star the high fashion runway models, of all ages and sizes, from Campbell's Oneofakind Talent Inc. modeling agency and past Little Rock Fashion Week presentations. They'll wear clothes from Belk, David's Bridal, Dillard's, Men's Wearhouse, and Reba's Formal Wear.
This will be the second ADG bridal fashion show that Campbell is involved in, featuring OTI and LRFW models, in a month. On January 15th, the ADG Bridal Fashion Show in Little Rock featured models from OTI and LRFW. Campbell served as co-producer and model booker.

UALR Hosts Central Arkansas Science Fairs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Feb. 9, 2012) – UALR’s College of Science and Mathematics will host three regional science fairs – the Central Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair , the Junior Academy of Science Central Arkansas Regional Fair,
...more and the American Chemical Society Chemistry Olympiad – on Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, offering competition for both middle- and high school students.

The two fairs will be day-long competitions from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 2, in the Donaghey Student Center. The Olympiad will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, in the UALR Science Lab Building Room 280. It is open to all chemistry students nominated by their teacher.

Public, private, and home-schooled students from the counties of Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Perry, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Van Buren, White, Woodruff, and Yell are eligible for the CARSEF’s two levels

The Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition is sponsoring a “Re-Entry Resource Fair” to connect those recently released from prison and their families with rehabilitation, employment, training and other support-service providers in Central Arkansas.

“We are truly appreciative to our friends at AEDD for allowing us to host this important event in their wonderful new facility" said Satori Barnes, a U.S. Probation Officer who is on a team helping to coordinate this event.
The first reentry resource fair organized by the Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition was held October 23, 2010 at the Canvas Community Church and filled the facility to overflow capacity.

The City of Little Rock’s Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission will celebrate Black History Month today at 11:30 a.m. in the Rotunda in City Hall. The
...more program will focus on the time honored tradition of African American women wearing ornate church hats – or “crowns.”
The program will include a brief history of the tradition of church hats, a dramatic skit performed by Yvonne Cook, narratives from local hat wearers explaining how they came into the hat wearing custom and an oath from young African American women who will pledge to carry on this fading practice. Musical entertainment will include The Golatt Links of Harmony and saxophonist Michael Eubanks. Attendees are encouraged to wear their church hats to the program.
