NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The North Little Rock Police Department held a memorial for its fallen officers.

Wednesday morning, the memorial was held on the front lawn. The ceremony honored members of the NLRPD who were killed or died in the line of duty.

...more coincides with the National Law Enforcement Memorial Week and is dedicated to the officers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the citizens of North Little Rock.

Here are the officers who were honored:

Frank Neighbors: Born April 18, 1890 - Killed November 22, 1929

Jerrell P. Vaughan: Born February 1931 - Killed April 16, 1963

Jerry C. Davis: Born July 15, 1955 - Killed January 7, 1982

Ralph McMoran: Born March 14, 1940 - Died April 23, 2008

...more each of three M119A2 105mm towed howitzers in support of the formal change of command ceremony for the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team as Col. John "Mickey" Stewart assumes command from outgoing commander, Col. Kirk Van Pelt.  The artillery battalion will also conduct two live rehearsals in preparation for the actual ceremony.
A test fire of the weapon systems will be conducted at approximately 2 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, and again after 9 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012. A third firing will occur during the actual ceremony after 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012.

WHERE:  Media are asked to meet escort at the Camp Robinson Maneuver Training Center's main gate Visitors Center on Military Drive in North Little Rock.
The event is an outdoor ceremony and will take place at the main flag display near post headquarters.
WHY:  The change of command will assign Stewart with responsibility over the 3,000-Soldier brigade, which is headquartered in Little Rock, with 46 units in 42 communities across the state.  Col. Kirk Van Pelt will relinquish command to Stewart during the ceremony after having served in command of the brigade since May 31, 2009.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Authorities said Cheryl Brewer called 911 after allegedly shooting her husband with a handgun.

"We did find Mr. Brewer inside deceased," said Sergeant Brian Dedrick with North Little Rock Police Department.

Authorities said it happened
...more October 14, 2011 at a home in the 11-thousand block of Highway 165 with the couple's two children, then ages 3 and 6 in the house.

Sergeant Dedrick says they sent the case to prosecutors to determine whether charges were necessary. He says it is unknown whether Brewer acted in self-defense.

"At this point I don't see in our system where it shows domestic violence where we had been called," said Sergeant Dedrick.

Brewer's husband, Charley Brewer, later died in the hospital. Officers reportedly found a handgun on scene. No charges had been filed until now.

Airman Bill Fugo prepares for a major life transition.

"After being taken care of for the last 26 years and then being let go. It's like starting over again," says Fugo.

Fugo spent that time working in information technology for the Air Force and now he's looking for civilian work.

"I'd have to say it's a little scary because of the unknown," says Fugo.

Between three and four hundred veterans took part in "Hiring Our Heroes," a national campaign to connect employers with vets. The American Legion helped put on the event at Sherwood Forest.

“Strike Out Stroke” at Travelers Game To Raise Awareness, Honor Stroke Survivors
 
WHAT:           A helicopter and stroke survivors and their doctors will take part in ceremonies tonight before the Arkansas Travelers face the Springfield Cardinals at Dickey-Stephens Park.

...more second annual event by AR SAVES (Arkansas Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support), highlights the use of a high-speed video communications system to help provide immediate, life-saving treatments to stroke patients 24 hours a day at  hospitals across the state.
 
To raise awareness about the benefits of seeking immediate treatment, a helicopter will bring UAMS’ Nicholas Bianchi, M.D., to the field to deliver the ball for the ceremonial first pitch. He will be met by several Arkansas stroke survivors. The survivors will deliver the ball to UAMS’ Curtis Lowery, M.D., who will throw the pitch.
