PINE BLUFF, Arkansas – May 8, 2012 – On Saturday, May 19, 2012 beginning at 9am to 3 pm, the
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting their 6th Annual Sheriff’s Fun Day Event at the Martin
Luther King, Jr. Park located on Rhinehart Road in Pine Bluff.
Last year’s event,
...more although a one-day event, was a success and its youth outreach effects were far-reaching, drawing hundreds to a day of free food, fun and entertainment.
The mission of Sheriff’s Fun Day, which Jefferson County Sheriff Gerald Robinson oversees, is to “share with the youth many of the necessities of life they are lacking-namely such as positive recreation and outreach programs in a controlled environment.”
Sheriff’s Fun Day is committed to positively impacting the lives of all youth to include those who are underprivileged. This event provides the youth in the community to interact with members of law enforcement and other partners in a positive controlled environment.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Pine Bluff police officers suspect two men of shooting a man to death Thursday night.  One has turned himself in.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 9:45 p.m. to the 3100 block of Miramar where they found 29-year-old Randall Blake Jr, suffering from
...more gunshot wounds.

Blake was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Police suspect 20-year-old Robert Neal and 28-year-old Antonio Alexander, both of Pine Bluff, in connection with this murder. Both men are considered armed and dangerous. 

Pine Bluff police say Alexander turned himself in on Monday. He is pending a probable cause hearing. Detectives say Neal is still wanted, and is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information should call the Pine Bluff Police Detective Division at (870)730-2090 or 911. A reward may be available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. All

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) -- Protestors gather in front of city hall in Pine Bluff Friday to express outrage over the department's handling of evidence in the Cleashindra Hall murder case.

Amos' home was searched on March 29 after new leads developed, but police said they didn't send the evidence to the crime lab until earlier this week.

Pine Bluff Resident Erica Allen says she worked with Cleashindra Hall the day she disappeared back in 1994.

"I offered her a ride home." says Allen.

Allen says they worked in the home of Dr. Larry Amos.   Friday she protested in honor of her friend.

"The lack of detail is what we need to talk about." says Allen.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - The Diocese of Little Rock says St. Joseph School in Pine Bluff will stay open for another year.

...more Rock, announced the last black Catholic school in the state will keep its doors open for the 2012-13 academic year.

Taylor made the announcement at a graduation speech at the school Thursday night, and the diocese formalized the announcement on Friday.

Taylor had said the school needed to have 60 students preregistered and would need $200,000 in private donations. Fifty-one students have pre-enrolled and the school has raised $158,000. But the campus developed a balanced budget, which swayed Taylor.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Cleashindra Hall disappeared 18 years ago today. She was last seen at the home and office of Dr. Larry Amos on Faucett Road in Pine Bluff.

On March 29 of this year, new leads led authorities to search Amos' home for the first time since her disappearance.

Pine Bluff police confirm that the evidence obtained in that search was sent to the crime lab this week, over a month since the search. They're investigating into why the evidence is just now being sent.

PINE BLUFF, Ark (KTHV) -- This weekend's Mother's Day holiday is a special time for families and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is making sure they do their part in finding "deadbeat dads" and making them pay overdue child support.

This is the sixth year for the "Operation
...more Mother's Day" campaign from Sheriff Gerald Robinson's office. His mission with this campaign is to "ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support". This year it will be held May 10-11.

He says, "I am probably one of the few sheriffs who will give you a warning before I come to pick you up. So I'm giving them an opportunity to come pay their child support." Sheriff Robinson calls them "deadbeat dads" and he says Thursday and Friday, his taskforce will be on the hunt, and they already know who they'll track down.

WHITE HALL (KTHV) - The push to grow needed industry in one Arkansas county gets a boost Tuesday.

A Little Rock-based bio-tech company Vivione Biosciences announced expansion plans for Jefferson County, specifically a facility at the Pine Bluff Arsenal.

There are some good
...more prospects here, even for some folks who've been part of the draw down at the arsenal. A company representative says she had piles of resumes from arsenal workers.

Now this year the expected job hires aren't huge, maybe a dozen or so. But in the next three to five years, if things go well, the company's president says another one hundred jobs could come with potential manufacturing.
