LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- From plastic bottles to cigarette butts just think of the amount of waste we produce daily. Unfortunately, not all of it makes it into our landfills or is recycled.

Making littered waste an eyesore in all of our communities.

However,
...more beautification groups across Arkansas are trying to change how we look at waste.

In Sherwood, the Keep Sherwood Beautiful organization just began curb-side recycling and is hoping their adopt-a-spot program inspires others to take pride in their community.

Keep Sherwood Beautiful Executive Director, Betty Barnhardt says she wants a clean reputation.

"You don't want people going by going, ugh, what a horrible looking place. We want people to say that's pretty, they take pride, their clean.

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) -- Sherwood Elementary's Odyssey of the Mind team won their regional competition, and the right to represent Arkansas in the world games in Iowa.

This seven-member team, made up of third, fourth and fifth graders, was given a special challenge, and they had to
...more create something unusual that answered the challenge.

In this case, the team came up with an "O-motional vehicle." It's a specially constructed vehicle that portrays several emotions. It combines physics and emotional intelligence, and it was a big winner at regional. Now, it's on to a possible world championship.

But, here again, the team was a confronted with a problem: how to raise the money for the trip. Once again, the team came up with a solution.

This is where the pig comes in.

Students in Sherwood would collect donations, with the three classes bringing in the highest totals getting to watch their teacher kiss a pig.
